About Challah

The making of delicious challah bread in honor of Shabbat, is a three thousand year old tradition. Challah not only simply means "loaf of bread" but is also the name of the mitzvah, the positive commandment to separate a portion of your dough that was to be given to the Kohen in the Temple times.

This mitzvah is one of three mitzvot unique and special to Jewish woman world wide. The mystical elements and depth and soul to challah making is far greater than meets the eye. Every ingredient is symbolic of another prayer and wish for ones family. It is an auspicious time for our personal and global prayers to be answered.
